Behavioral Health Technician

Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ behavior and progress, documenting any significant changes
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans as developed by healthcare professionals
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and other therapeutic activities
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
- Administer medication under the supervision of licensed staff
- Respond promptly to crisis situations and provide de-escalation techniques
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Conduct intake interviews and initial assessments
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on patient care
- Assist patients with daily living activities as needed
- Support patients in developing coping mechanisms and life skills
Behavioral Health Technician Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working in a mental health or substance abuse setting
- Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Familiarity with therapeutic techniques and crisis intervention strategies
- High school diploma or GED
- Completed training program for Behavioral Health Technicians
- Excellent observational and documentation skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Empathy and patience when working with individuals in distress
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Basic computer proficiency
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility needs
